★Ingredients
1 cup of white rice (jasmine, basmati, or your preferred variety)
1.5 to 2 cups of water (depending on rice type)
A pinch of salt (optional)
★Instructions
- Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.
- Add the rinsed rice to a rice cooker or pot.
- Pour in the water (use 1.5 cups for firmer rice or 2 cups for softer rice) and add a pinch of salt if desired.
- If using a rice cooker, simply close the lid and press the “Cook” button. Let it cook until the rice cooker automatically switches to “Warm.”
- If cooking on the stovetop, bring the rice and water to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.
- After cooking, let the rice sit for 5–10 minutes with the lid on. Then fluff it with a fork or rice paddle before serving.
Enjoy your fluffy and fragrant rice!
