🧀 Fluffy Cheese Biscuits

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (cubed)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp lemon juice)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley or chives (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add cold butter and mix with your hands or a pastry cutter until crumbly.
  4. Stir in the cheese.
  5. Pour in the buttermilk and mix gently until a soft dough forms (don’t overmix).
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, gently fold it a few times, then roll to about 2 cm thickness.
  7. Cut into rounds using a glass or cutter.
  8. Place on the tray and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle herbs on top.

🔥 Tips:

  • Don’t overwork the dough for soft, flaky layers
  • Use very cold butter for the best texture
  • Add garlic powder for extra flavor 😋
