Minced meat casserole with cheese and rice recipe

★Ingredients

1 pound (450g) ground beef or turkey

1 cup uncooked rice (long-grain or instant rice)

1 onion, chopped

1 bell pepper (red or green), diced

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes

1 cup tomato sauce

1-2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups beef or chicken broth

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)


★Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.

  1. Add the Base:

Stir in the uncooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  1. Simmer:

Bring everything to a gentle boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes (or until the rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed). Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  1. Add Cheese:

Once the rice is cooked, sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for 3-5 minutes.

  1. Serve:

Garnish with parsley (optional) and serve hot.
