🍪 Double Chocolate Fudge Cookies

These rich, soft, and fudgy chocolate cookies are loaded with chocolate chips and have a delicious melted-chocolate center. Perfect with a glass of cold milk or a cup of coffee!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • ½ cup (85 g) chocolate chunks, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Make the dough:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Add the chocolate:
Fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate chunks, reserving a few pieces for the tops of the cookies.
  6. Shape the cookies:
Scoop the dough into balls, about 2 tablespoons each, and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  7. Add extra chocolate:
Press a few chocolate chips or chunks onto the top of each dough ball for an extra gooey appearance.
  8. Bake:
Bake for 9–11 minutes. The edges should look set while the centers still appear slightly soft.
  9. Cool:
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5–10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

🍫 Pro Tips

  • Do not overbake—the cookies continue cooking as they cool.
  • For an extra fudgy texture, chill the dough for 20–30 minutes before baking.
  • Use a mixture of chocolate chips and chopped chocolate for more melted chocolate pockets.
  • Sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt on top for a delicious sweet-and-salty finish.
