3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons instant yeast
3 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
1 cup warm milk (or water)
For the filling:
500g (1 pound) ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
For the topping:
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk and olive oil (or butter). Mix until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- In a pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until softened.
- Stir in salt, black pepper, paprika, tomato paste, and soy sauce. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
Step 3: Assemble the Rolls
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions.
- Roll out each portion into a circle, place a spoonful of the beef filling in the center, and seal the edges to form a roll.
- Place the rolls seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Step 4: Add Toppings and Bake
- Brush the tops of the rolls with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
