Homemade Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 ¼ tsp)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp salt
Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Glaze (optional):
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add butter, eggs, salt, and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1–2 hours, until doubled in size.
- Make the filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll dough into a rectangle. Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough and sprinkle nuts if using.
- Shape the rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into even pieces. Place them in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Glaze (optional): Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla, then drizzle over warm rolls.
